Excellence Program - Performing Arts - Dance PDF Print E-mail

Cairns State High School’s Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts fosters excellence in dance, enhancing a student’s chances of following a career in the art form of their choice. The Centre offers practical extensions to the Board of Senior Secondary School’s courses allowing all students, at an early age, the opportunity to develop their talent to its fullest potential. Cairns High has a long history of success in performing arts with many past students following professions in their specific art form.

The Centre of Excellence in Dance focuses on choreography and performance in various styles of dance. The aim of the practical extension is to foster the specific talents and aspirations of each individual student.

Courses will be led by tutors from the school complemented by community tutors for selected workshops who are professionals in their field. The courses will culminate each semester in a number of productions open to the general public.
