As part of the Cairns State High School language program and Cairns Regional Council’s Sister City Program, we have the privilege to welcome 28 junior high school students from Oyama city every year.
This year, the school is going to host these students and their two accompanying teachers, from Thursday 22nd to Monday 26th August in Term 3. This program is very popular and staff in the language department always receive very positive and happy feedback about this rewarding experience from the supporting families.
Currently, we are looking for 10 host families who are willing to support this program and expand their inter-cultural experiences with the Japanese students. These host families are expected to offer a room, transport to and from school, and three meals a day.
Please note that this is a reciprocal exchange program with CSHS, therefore there will be no payment for hosting the Japanese students, as our students will receive the same treatment in kind if they choose to visit Japan with the school.
As always, we look forward to developing a partnership with interested host families to ensure this valuable sister city exchange program continues to benefit all students involved into the future.
