Senior Leader team to be appointed at Induction Ceremony

Cairns High will officially appoint its Student Senior Leader Team at the Senior Induction Ceremony to be held on Thursday 19 February in Crosswell Hall.  The team is made up of the school’s brightest and most inspirational students who are fine examples of the year 12 cohort and who will go on to be future leaders of Cairns.
“The Induction Ceremony formally recognises the important role that the Senior
Leaders will carry out for both Cairns High and the community this year. Cairns High Senior Leaders are a true representation of the school’s values”, commented Mrs Angela Toppin, Cairns State High School Principal.
The guest speaker for the ceremony is Ms Sally Mlikota, President of the Cairns Business Women’s Club, who was originally raised in Central Africa. Ms Mlikota completed her education at a multitude of primary schools, before settling down to a state education in Northern England. She then went on to complete a Bachelor of Geography with a major in Economics whilst also travelling extensively in the USA, India and Australia.  Having stumbled across a career in Recruitment in London in 1990, she progressed to recruiting financiers in Hong Kong, then Sydney and in 1999 moved to Cairns.
Ms Mlikota has been the Director of CBC Staff Selection, Cairns and Townsville since 2004, and more recently Managing Partner of Aussie Locums, a national allied health recruitment business. Her approach to recruitment is based on a choice of ethical values and reputation and she is highly regarded as a leader in her profession.  Ms Mlikota is recognised as a business owner who has a great work/life balance and the unique ability to empower her team.
The staff and students of Cairns High look forward to hearing from Ms Mlikota and also enjoying the entertainment provided by the Cairns State High School Orchestra this Thursday in celebration of this momentous occasion.
