International Students

Broadening global connections

Cairns State High has a long and proud tradition of educating international students. The school community shares a strong commitment to broadening the diversity of the student population and establishing long
term relationships into the future.

A comprehensive orientation program occurs during the first weeks to assist with transition and to help students adjust to their new school environment. The Orientation program includes: Welcome pack, school tour, purchase of uniforms, overview of school routines and introduction to members of the International Student Program team.

The school offers a range of homestay families who provide accommodation, meals and support for students. The Homestay Coordinator closely monitors students in the first few weeks of placement through regular phone calls, emails and bi-annual orientation and ongoing house visits.
