Activities

The Cairns High motto Vincit  qui se vincit  (One who conquers oneself conquers all) and mission statement, To develop young people who are inquiring, knowledgeable and caring, and who are committed to learning, success and global citizenship provide a focus for all school activities.  These aim to develop student who in both a local and global context aspire to be

Each year level has a set of traditional and innovative activities for students. Year levels are assigned Year Level Coordinators and Year Level Administrators and together these staff members manage the specific year level events.  Students are encouraged to become actively involved in all year level and student council activities.

  • Year 07

    Our focus for Year 7 students during their first year of high school is to engage the students in activities that encourage the development of friendships and their individual identity at Cairns High

  • Year 08

    Our focus for Year 8 students is to encourage the development of their individual identity at Cairns High.

  • Year 09

    The Year 9 focus is on creating a habit of the Cairns High Five: Be Punctual, Be Prepared, Be Positive, Be Productive and Be Polite as well as encouraging the development of skills and strategies so students are able to uphold the school values

  • Year 10

    Year 10 is the last year of Junior School, and is used as the bridging year for Senior

  • Year 11

    Year 11 students are encouraged to immerse themselves in their studies in order to effectively prepare for their final year. They are also provided with opportunities to develop leadership skills in preparation for senior leadership positions

  • Year 12

    Year 12 at Cairns State High School is the culmination of 12 years of schooling preparing students for their post schooling pathways
