Mission and values

The school’s new Guiding Statement was officially published in December 2015 and 

includes the school’s positioning statement, motto, background, mission statement, values, effective practices, program types and learner attributes. The Guiding Statement was developed based on the school’s previous Philosophy and Objectives Statement and consultation processes included staff, parents and students.

The Guiding Statement now includes the Cairns High Learner Attributes (adapted from the IB Learner Profile) which for the foundation of being a global citizen. 

The Guiding Statement states that Our students, in both a local and global context aspire to be:

·        Inquirers

·        Knowledgeable

·        Thinkers

·        Effective communicators

·        Principled

·        Open-minded and flexible

·        Caring and cooperative

·        Confident to embrace new challenges

·        Balanced and resilient

·        Reflective​ 

The school has developed Guiding Statement Monitoring Procedures which will monitor support across the school community both formally and also through the collection of anecdotal feedback. These processes will commence Term 3. ​​​
