The Queensland Government is committed to supporting the state's rapidly developing and innovative aerospace industry. The Gateway to Industry Schools program for Aerospace has proven essential in meeting the Queensland Government's aim of transitioning young people from school to work while completing school and gaining formal qualifications.
Selected Queensland secondary schools (government and non-government) engage and partner with aerospace industries, tertiary education and training providers to inspire students to consider a skilled, diverse, and sustainable career or pathway into to the exciting aerospace industry sector.
The Gateway to Insdustry Schools Program (GISP) in Advanced Manufacturing (AM) assists Cairns State High teachers and students to collaborate with industry by sharing limited resources, opportunities and transferring knowledge through the exclusive network of Advanced Manufacturing Gateway Schools. The is program will impact a range of learning areas in the school and bring industry closer to the school in partnership.
Attracting more young people into the advancing manufacturing and engineering sectors has been an issue in recent years. Through QMI, the GISP project helps to:
Provide professional development and currency opportunities (in industry) for Queensland school teachers contextualisation of advanced manufacturing practices and applications incorporating robotics, STEAM and coding.
Develop and implement a range of manufacturing and engineering-related activities across industrial technology and design, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) and other key learning curriculum areas.
Create opportunities for work experience, structured work placements, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, full-time apprenticeships, and pathways to university in preparation for trade, para-professional and professional careers.
Celebrate and share student, teacher, school and industry experiences to ensure young people have the knowledge and experience to make informed decisions about their future.

he Screen and Media Gateway to Industry Schools program is a partnership between Essential Screen Skills and the Queensland Government – an initiative proudly supported and funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training. This program provides opportunities for students and teachers to participate in valuable experiences, broaden knowledge and attend industry-led events. It promotes understanding of the screen and media industry and provides key information about pathways to further education, training and employment in the sector. In partnership with key industry stakeholders, the project provides real world opportunities for students, teachers and schools to access:
- panels and workshops
- teaching resources and professional development
- careers and pathway guides to future work
- work placements and industry work experience
Gateway schools will be able to actively engage and connect with key industry stakeholders to create strong connections and pathways for their students.
GISPH2
The Gateway to Industry Schools project for the Hydrogen Industry (GISPH2) facilitates sustainable partnerships between industry, government, and the education sector to:
• Advance Queensland’s hydrogen workforce development
• Attract new workers
• Guide future training.
By fostering these partnerships, connecting pathways, encouraging participation, offering professional development and assisting in the promotion of schools and students, GISPH2 is assisting industry build talent pipelines for the future.

Information and Communication Technology
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Gateway to Industry Schools project is managed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). ACS's vision is for Australia, and through this project, Queensland, to become a world leader in emerging tech talent, fostering innovation and creating new forms of value.
Program
The ICT project revolves around an engaging program with the following initiatives:
- digital technologies planning and resource access for teachers via the ACS ICT Educator Community
- teacher professional development and computer programming training
- student computer programming and coding skills training
- student robotics, algorithm and programming training
- connecting teachers with local tech industry, academics, councils and state government representatives for educator to industry networking events
- robotics immersion and competition days
BiG Day In ICT Careers days at the University of Queensland and on the Sunshine Coast, live-streamed to regional schools and recorded for classroom viewing
facilitating excursions, incursions and work experience, and developing study and career pathways opportunities with industry leaders
supporting schools to access targeted professional development for the digital curriculum through recognised, expert providers.

Health
The Health Gateway to Industry Schools project aims to develop school students' knowledge and understanding of the varied roles available in the health workforce and improve their access to learning and experiential opportunities in Queensland's growing health sector.
CheckUP will engage a wide network of schools, training providers, tertiary education institutions and health service providers to:
- Provide experiential learning opportunities for students through classroom demonstrations, industry visits and work sampling projects with health industry employers.
- Provide professional development and learning opportunities for teachers involved in health education and related programs.
- Strengthen vocational education and training (VET) opportunities for high school students with an interest in a future healthcare career.
- Prepare students for and define pathways to further education and employment in health, with an aim to meet local workforce demands.
In collaboration with local providers, practical learning opportunities will be made available to students to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and experience required to gain a rewarding future in the healthcare workforce. These will feature a broad range of health and allied fields, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Care
- allied health assistance
- dental assistance
- disability/aged care
- health service operations
- midwifery
- nursing
- pathology and diagnostic services
- patient support services
- sterilisation.
