Brian started on my ABC Radio show a dozen or so years ago. He was what we call a “natural” - someone born with a great talent for radio.
He was wise, switched on to the world around him. Brian was genuine, the real deal, a man in love with learning, and with our beautiful far north Queensland. His insights were breath-takingly deep, his stories were full of life, and he could make me laugh so hard I always kept close by a spare pair of trousers.
I will miss you Brian - but I was blessed to have known you.

“Brian was a much loved member of the Drive panel for over a decade. Adam inherited Brian, Gail and Jonesy from Richard Dinner, and from his first appearance on his program, Brian's warmth and enthusiasm for life were infectious.
He was always smiling and he lit up our studio whenever he stepped inside.
Brian was well considered, and he thought deeply about what he wanted to say about any topic they tackled. He loved his sport, but he read widely about the news of the world and was never afraid to share his opinion on trickier topics.
Brian had a very dry sense of humour and the chemistry he had with Gail and Jonesy was something special.
As a symbol of the reverence for which Gail, Jonesy and Adam held Brian – his panel chair on Drive has been retired for the rest of the year.
He can never be replaced. We will miss him dearly, as will our audience."
