• ​The school's main office operates 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday.   
• The closing time on Fridays is 12:00pm.

Student Start Date 

​Year 7 First Day Details:

• Arrive by 8:35 am for an 8:40 am assembly in the Bou-Wa Sports Hall (beside the school oval)
• Assembly includes settling in, key information, and meeting Connect teachers
• Wear full sports school uniform (not formal)
• Bring school hat, water bottle, pencil case with basic stationery, and a notebook
• Please label all of your items, uniform, stationery, laptop charger, drink bottle etc
• School diary provided by Connect teacher
• Canteen open during both breaks, or students may bring packed lunch 

New students Years 8 - 12

• Arrive by 8:35 am for an 8:40 am Main Office on their first day. Staff will be on hand to welcome them and personally guide each student to their first class of the day.
• Wear full sports school uniform (not formal)
• Bring school hat, water bottle, pencil case with basic stationery, and a notebook
• Canteen open during both breaks, or students may bring packed lunch  

Current Cairns High Students

• Year 8 – Year 12 Connect classes 

There will be extended Connect for Connect classes and Period 1 for all students. Normal classes will commence from Period 2. Timetable will be given to students on this day. 

Report Lost Items

Any items that have been left or found at school are taken to Room A18.

Please label all items you bring to school especially Cairns High Jackets, water bottles, chargers, swimming bags and school hats. Report your lost items here. 

Enrolment Information

Please note that only students with an approved enrolment application and a completed enrolment interview are able to attend at this time.

Bring Your Own Device (BYOX) Minimum Specifications

The laptop needs to be suitable for general purpose computing. Subjects which require video editing and graphic design programs are supported by computer labs with suitable devices and software. Click here for more information about eLearning and BYOx.

Parents / carers are directly responsible for providing textbooks (online or hardcopy) and other personal resources for their children while attending school. Accordingly please find following a link for the requirements you are required to provide across all subjects:

Uniform Shop

Cairns State High School is a proud uniform school, and all students are expected to wear the full school uniform in accordance with our Uniform Policy. We encourage students to wear their uniform with pride, and the school regularly monitors uniform standards.
